Harrah's Tunica Closing - Gone But Not Surpising
Received a bit of sad news this evening. Harrah's Tunica is
shutting down as of June 2, 2014. This is somewhat disheartening due to the fact that Harrah's
Tunica was the first place that I ever played live
tournament poker. January of 2006 was the first year I ventured down to the
"Grand Casino Tunica" as it was known then.

It is Time to Turn John Cena Heel
I was going to continue my breakdown of WrestleMania XXX
this week but there are only three matches (besides the
Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal) that we know for
certain are happening. Instead, I want to talk a bit about
the state of the man that is currently the WWE's greatest
Superstar, John Cena. John Cena is easily the top dog in the WWE, and whether you
love him or hate him, you have to admire his work ethic and
commitment to the company. He does everything that the company asks of him and more,
and is the hero of kids all over the world.

Schwartz Antics Pale Compared to the Late John Bonetti
I just got done reading about the controversy last week
during the final table of a $1,100 event at the Foxwoods
Poker Classic. Justin "Stealthmunk" Schwartz was disqualified after various
antics at the final table that included "verbal abuse" of
players and a questionable "all-in" situation. You can read
more about it at 2+2 forums. Reading over this blog, it reminded me of the last
tournament that I played with the late, great John Bonetti.

Flipout Tournaments - Luckbox Poker Variant is Bad Timing
Full Tilt Poker is released a new tournament variant on
Wednesday called a Flipout tournament. The way these
tournament works is that the entire field goes all-in on the
very first hand and the winner are then in the money. For example, in an 81 players SNG, the final table would be
reached after the first hand. It is part Kamikaze and part
single-table SNG all in one.

It Is NOT Time to Ban Howard Lederer and Chris Ferguson From the WSOP
I was listening to Bluff Magazine's "The Rundown" yesterday
and they mentioned an article on PokerListings. com written
by Lee Davy that asked whether Howard Lederer and Chris
Ferguson should be banned from the World Series of Poker. *The WSOP nor Caesars Have Been Harmed*
The first, and most relevant point against the banning of
Ferguson and Lederer is the fact that both are in good
standing with both Caesars and the World Series of Poker. As
players, neither have cheated the company nor behaved
inappropriately during their play at the WSOP, or at least
not at any level that would warrant a ban.

WrestleMania XXX Breakdown - Daniel Bryan vs. HHH
Some of you already know that I am a fan of professional
wrestling, or rather "sports entertainment" as it is known
today. Starting today, I will begin a regular column where I
comment on some of the major storylines / events in the
professional wrestling world. Currently the WWE is on the road to WresleMania XXX and the
biggest storyline, or at least the one that most fans care
the most about is Daniel Brian vs. "The Authority.

Opting Out is Not a Bad Thing
It appears that Ben "bttech86" Tollerene has decided to opt
out from having his stats tracked by HighStakedb. I
discovered this earlier today when putting together a "high
stakes report" for another website. Chad Holloway has advocated against online poker players
opting out in the past and this appears as good a time as
any to readdress the issue. First, I don't really have an issue with players choosing to
opt out from HighStakesDB or any other online tracking
database.

Good For Poker, Bad For Poker - Cheating Scandals, WSOP Guarantee, and More
Believe it or not, I think the recent cheating scandals have
been a good thing for poker. Below are a few other quick
takes in my first installment of "Good for Poker, Bad for
Poker. "
*Recent Cheating Scandals - Good*
I'm sure I just raised a few eyebrows there, but I truly
believe that the recent cheating scandals are good for the
game. First, it gives concrete evidence that tournament officials
are keeping a close eye on events and ensuring a certain
level of integrity in the game.
