Full Review of PlayersOnly Poker
Summary of PlayersOnly Poker
Players Only is a new poker room in the Cake Poker Network, which is also a relatively new contender on the market. It is open to US players – it even accepts credit card deposits from US citizens!
The poker network’s shared player base is expanding but is still relatively small compared to the largest sites. One positive aspect of a growing site is the influx of new players – many of them from sports book and casino venues – which makes the games loose and interesting.
This site’s client was conceived and developed by a number of very dedicated poker players. As a result it possesses a practical lobby, great functionality and focuses on delivering a really good playing experience
With Players Only being a new poker room on the market, you can count on some pretty lucrative promotions. The sign-up bonus is very impressive in itself, and on top of the regular bonus you will also receive an additional 10% on subsequent deposit in the form of a reload bonus.
You get one FPP (frequent player point) for each dollar taken in rake from a ring game where you were dealt cards. You don’t have to put any money in the pot to get the FPP, so tight grinders are favored. When it comes to tournament fees, each dollar earns you as much as seven FPP.
There is over $1,000,000 in guaranteed tournament prize money each month, and quite a few other valuable promotions. You will also accumulate Gold Chips as you play, which can be converted into free tournament tickets.
Poker Traffic
Players Only Poker and the Cake Poker network has attracted an impressive number of players in very little time - a fact that bodes well for the future. At this writing, they’re not among the top ten largest sites yet, but not far from it.
During US peak hours there are always lots of games to choose from, for ring-game and tournament players alike. Games are busiest at low stakes, varying from relatively loose to extremely loose - often with a viewed flop percentage in the 55 to 60 percent at full tables.
The rake is pretty much industry average, with a "no flop no drop" policy rounding off the edges a bit. In addition, short-handed play uses a lower cap for the maximum rake per pot.
Software & Graphics
The poker client provided by Players Only may bot be the best looking on the market, but the graphics are definitely not a problem. With excellent functionality and very stable software, the overall impression is not bad at all.
Comprehensive statistics are accessible both at the table and in the poker room lobby. Table chat is saved in the hand histories, so you’ll be able to recreate the complete flow of events.
You have the option to grade your opponents according to their skill, using tags in different colors. However, the Notes function is a little awkward to use. You choose the player from a scroll-down list instead of just clicking on it at the table.
The software lets you play at up to four tables at once. Multi-tabling works smoothly and games run very quickly. All in all, there is nothing extraordinary about this poker client, but it’s very stable and does what it sets out to do.
The Players Only web site is a really nice place to be – if you’re a certain kind of person (Caucasian male) with a certain set of preferences (Caucasian females). I guess that’s what “players only” imply. To make their users feel welcome, Players Only throw a bunch of pretty ladies at their feet. You can turn off the music, though.
A weird feature: If you click on the Panic button on your account page, you get a presentation of marketing trends in the wireless e-commerce area.
Apart from these details, the site is actually quite good. Lots of useful information and support sections are available, all arranged in a good and lucid navigation structure.
Game Variety
Players Only Poker offers Texas Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7-Card Stud and 7-Card Stud Hi/Lo. Games are played in all the most popular settings – fixed limit, pot-limit, no-limit, full-table, short-handed and heads-up.
Most of the traffic is located to the Texas Holdem tables, but there is usually some action to be found in the other variations as well.
There is no shortage of poker tournaments either. Both the multi-table and sit-and-go sections are often densely populated. The poker room offers regular multi-table tournaments with guaranteed prize pools, which at occasions may add certain overvalue – keep your eyes open.
