Full Review of PlayersOnly Poker
Summary of PlayersOnly Poker
Players Only is on the Merge Network, which is a relatively new contender on the market. It is open to US players – it even accepts credit card deposits from US citizens!
The poker network’s shared player base is in the middle of the pack, but still relatively small compared to the largest sites. One positive aspect of a growing site is the influx of new players – many of them from sports book and casino venues – which makes the games loose and interesting.
This site’s client was conceived and developed by a number of very dedicated poker players. As a result it has an easy-to-use lobby, great functionality and focuses on delivering a really good playing experience
With Players Only being a new poker room on the market, you can count on some pretty lucrative promotions. The sign-up bonus is very impressive in itself, and on top of the regular bonus you will also receive an additional 10% on subsequent deposit in the form of a reload bonus.
You get player points for all participation in real-money games, which will earn you bonuses and special promotional incentives from time to time.
There is over $1,000,000 in guaranteed tournament prize money each month, and quite a few other valuable promotions on top of that.
Poker Traffic
Players Only Poker and has attracted an impressive number of players in very little time - a fact that bodes well for the future. At this writing, they’re not among the top ten largest sites yet, but not far from it.
During US peak hours there are always lots of games to choose from, for ring-game and tournament players alike. Games are busiest at low stakes, varying from relatively loose to extremely loose - often with a viewed flop percentage in the 55 to 60 percent at full tables.
The rake is pretty much industry average, with a "no flop no drop" policy. In addition, short-handed play uses a lower cap for the maximum rake per pot.
Software & Graphics
Since moving from the Cake network to Merge, Players Only now offers a much better-looking poker client. It's clean, stable and has all the functionality you need - definitely on par with the best.
Comprehensive statistics are accessible both at the table and in the poker room lobby. You can also export the hand histories to your favorite statistics tool.
You have the option to grade your opponents according to their skill, using tags like fish, shark, bluffer and so on. The notes function opens in a new window, which is slightly less practical than jotting down on the table itself.
Multi-tabling works smoothly and games run very quickly. All in all, there is nothing extraordinary about this poker client, but it does what it sets out to do.
The Players Only web site is a really nice place to be – if you’re a certain kind of person (testosterone-filled male) with a certain set of preferences (female with ample bosom). I guess that’s what “players only” imply. To make their users feel welcome, Players Only throw a bunch of pretty ladies at their feet. You can turn off the music, though.
"Safe for Work"-feature: If you click on the Panic button on your account page, you get a presentation of marketing trends in the wireless e-commerce area. Good one.
Apart from - or thanks to - these details, the site is quite good. Lots of useful information and support sections are available, all arranged in a good and lucid navigation structure.
Game Variety
Players Only Poker offers Texas Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7-Card Stud, 7-Card stud Hi/Lo, 5-Card Stud, Razz, 5-card Draw, Triple Draw, Badugi and mixed games. Games are played in all the most popular settings – fixed limit, pot-limit, no-limit, full-table, short-handed and heads-up.
That's a lot of different games, which is commendable, but most of the traffic is still located to the Texas Holdem section. With time, traffic in the less common poker variations might pick up as well.
There is no shortage of poker tournaments either. Both the multi-table and sit-and-go sections are often densely populated. The poker room offers regular multi-table tournaments with guaranteed prize pools, which on occasion may add some overvalue – keep your eyes open.
