Full Review of Full Tilt Poker

Summary of Full Tilt Poker

Full Tilt Poker is still open to US players and one of the few authentic poker rooms out there – you’ll definitely not find any casino links at the poker tables in this client. Kudos for that!

With its genuine dedication to poker, Full Tilt has become one of the market leaders. They have acquired a huge player base and it’s still growing. At this writing, Full Tilt Poker is the second biggest online poker room, after Poker Stars.

Full Tilt is endorsed by lots of well known poker pros such as Chris Ferguson, Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer and Jennifer Harman [four links to player profiles]. They regularly play and chat at all levels on the site.

Full Tilt Poker uses privately developed software and is not part of any poker network. There is also a poker client available for Mac users, Kudos for that too!

Promotions and Bonus Information

In addition to the generous sign-up bonus, Full Tilt Poker offer reload bonuses at regular intervals. You receive one player point for each dollar raked from pots in which you were dealt a hand.

In addition, there are many high-value promotions such as daily guaranteed prize pools ($5 million each week) and satellites to major live events.

When you play real-money games at Full Tilt, you earn player points that can be exchanged for various merchandise as well as for tournament tickets.

Poker Traffic

Although Full Tilt is an independent poker room and is not part of a large network, it's one of the biggest poker rooms today. This is partly due to the fact that they still welcome US players.

There is always a massive amount of Texas Holdem tables available, and the player volume in other games is by no means low either. During peak hours in January 2008 there were 9,700 cash game players.

Peak hours at Full Tilt usually occur in US evening time, around 7 PM (PT.)

Software & Graphics

Full Tilt Poker has a somewhat different but nice-looking poker client with cartoon-like avatars and appealing backdrops.

As you would expect from one of the world's leading poker rooms, the overall functionality is excellent, with comprehensive statistics, player notes and a very high level of stability and security.

You can resize the tables freely, a great feature that has become standard at the best online poker sites, but is often missing at smaller sites. A small setback in the Full Tilt Poker client is the font used for player names and chip stacks – it’s very densely spaced and really quite hard to read in white on black.

The Full Tilt client has some very innovative functionality. For example you can set up default values for your buy-in and rebuy at cash tables. There are also numbers of choices for the table view, with different backgrounds, avatars etc. You can also customize the poker lobby in a number of ways.

Multi-table play works smoothly and you can play as much as eight tables simultaneously. The cartoon style of the software provides a rather relaxed atmosphere with a slightly different feel to it than the average poker room. It’s nice that the pros have their own portraits as avatars (mostly.)

Game Variety

When it comes to game variety, Full Tilt Poker really stands out in the crowd. Besides the commonly offered Holdem, Omaha and (to a lesser degree) 7-Card Stud, you can also play Razz and a number of mixed games like H.O.R.S.E. and H.O.S.E. These are combinations of Holdem, Omaha Hi-Lo, 7-Card Stud, 7-Card Stud Hi-Lo and Razz.

As opposed to many smaller poker rooms, at Full Tilt you are likely to find a fair amount of traffic even in games other than the big ones (Holdem and Omaha). Full Tilt Poker also hosts a lot of different tournaments with buy-ins from $1 to the thousands. Many tournaments feature guaranteed prize pools, and you’ll always find good satellites to the big events.

There are plenty of freerolls too, often with loose and soft play. What’s more, not all of then are played out in Texas Holdem! Once in a while there’s a tournament on Omaha or H.O.R.S.E. too.

More About

In today’s online poker, Full Tilt Poker is the place where the biggest pots are played.

At this writing, the 100 biggest pots during the last 24 hours took place at Full Tilt, starting at $134,000. They were all played in pot-limit Omaha with blinds at $200/400.

Pros like Gus Hansen, Phil Ivey, David Benyamine, and Patrik Antonius are often playing in these high games, winning and losing huge amounts of dollars on a daily basis.
