Bashing Former Sponsors or Clients Does Not Help Professional Integrity

24 September 2014 , By: compncards
keep calm and have integrity 257x300
Former Ultimate Poker pro William Reynolds has been bashing his former sponsor. He's made several statements about the company that paint the company in a bad light, but also do little to help his personal reputation. I'm not going to debate the accuracy or inaccuracy of his statements because I have no internal knowledge of the company. Even if I did, I would not comment unless given the green light by the company.

Trump Taj Closure Means So Long to My Home Poker Room

Taj Poker Room 400x300
If you've been following the news wires over the last few days, then you know that Trump Entertainment is filing bankruptcy and the Trump Taj Mahal could be closing in November. With that closure comes the shutdown of Trump Taj's Poker Room, a room that I personally consider my home poker room. Up until a couple years ago, Atlantic City was the closest place I could travel to and play live poker. From 2006 to 2008, I was up there almost every month and every few months from 2009 to around 2011.

One of the good guys of poker got his first Million dollar score of his career last night. Mike Leah (known as GoLeafsGoEh online) finished second yesterday in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Main Event to earn $1. 04 million. The poker world is clamoring on the run that Dan Colman (the event's winner) has been on but overlooked the fact that Mike is also having his best year ever in poker.

In case you missed it, West Virginia is in the early stages of considering whether to offer online gambling through the state lottery. The prospect of online poker in West Virginia is huge for the simple fact that it serves as a jumping off point for several states, including my home state of Virginia. Just a short drive of three hours and I could play online poker. What's the big deal you ask? In about two years, there is a solid chance that New Jersey, Nevada, California, Delaware and maybe West Virginia could all be spreading online poker.

Double Bubble 384x300
PokerStars has decided to introduce a new concept at the 2015 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Two of their tournaments will pay approximately 50 percent of the field in what they are calling "Double Bubble" tournaments. For example, an event that pays 40 spots will now pay 80 spots. The additional 40 spots will get their buy-in back and continue to play for the money in the top 40 spots.

PokerStars is a Business - Not a Political Platform

26 August 2014 , By: compncards
Colman Busquet 430x296
PokerStars recently issued a directive stating that players are no longer allowed to wear items at the table that make a political statement. This stemmed from the recent EPT High Roller Event where Daniel Colman wore a "Free Palestine" shirt at the final table and Olivier Busquet wore a "Save Gaza" shirt. Whether the shirts were worn as a political statement or to support the innocent caught up in the conflicts, PokerStars stepped in and said no to future occurrences. This has brought forth a string of post from various media members.

Brock Lesnar's Victory Could Be Best Thing to Happen for John Cena's Career

Brock Lesnar 430x285
When Brock Lesnar was scheduled to take on John Cena this past weekend at SummerSlam, we figured Brock was going to walk out of the arena with the title. However, did any of us actually expect the one-sided massacre that befell the man considered one of the greatest WWE Champions in history? Nobody saw this coming. And it was the best thing that could have happened to John Cena. I am not an anti-Cena guy.

Did Sheldon Adelson Pay NewsWeek to Write Poker Face?

Poker Face Newsweek 225x300
The poker world is in its latest uproar over last week's NewsWeek article "How Washington Opened the Floodgates to Online Poker, Dealing Parents a Bad Hand. " This piece has been called everything from politically motivated to bad journalism to a bag of lies. I've read over the article and I'm not here to debate the accuracy of the article. Rather, I have reason to believe that the article was purchased by Adelson's coalition.
