Day 31 at the 2010 WSOP is more than your typical day at the WSOP. Today was the first day of the 2010 WSOP tournament of champions. In addition, we have Day 2 of the $2,500 Mixed Event underway as well as the final table of both the $1,500 NL and the $5,000 PL Omaha Hi-Lo Event.

Erik Seidel Makes $5,000 PLO Hi-Lo Final

The $5,000 PLO Hi-Lo final has shaped up to be a very stacked final. Dan Shak is the chip leader heading into the final table that includes Leif Force, Perry Green, Dave Ulliott, Rob Hollink, and 8-time bracelet winner Erik Seidel. Seidel starts the final table 5th in chips.

Tournament of Champions Underway

The 2010 WSOP Tournament of Champions kicked off today at Noon at expected, but one player failed to show up on time. Phil Hellmuth showed up two hours late and the talk early on was how disrespectful it was to show up late for this event. As you may remember, 20 of the 27 players were voted into the field by fans, and some of the other players felt it was disrespectful to show up two hours late for an event. My opinion is why should this event be any different than the way Phil normally enters an event.

He always shows up late. Why should today matter?

John Juanda, Sammy Farha, Barry Shulman, Greg Raymer, and Phil Ivey were all knocked out on this Day 1. Yes, you read that right, Day 1. For some reason they decided that they needed to change the structure to accommodate the players that might be playing in events. Instead of playing to the final table today, they played four levels. They will play four more levels tomorrow and then to a winner on Day 3. We assume Day 3 is still on July 4th. Erik Seidel leads the TOC going into Day 2 with Johnny Chan right behind.

Come back a little later as I have some interesting stories from around the TOC and from around the other events here at the World Series of Poker. Stay tuned.
