Polk Resurrects Jesus, Inspires with $100 to $10,000 Challenge
Recently, he has expanded his brand with UpswingPoker and PolkerNews on YouTube.
Now, he's in the middle of a $100 to $10,000 challenge that he hopes will inspire other online poker pros.
After a roller coaster first few days, Polk is now showing a profit and looking to run it up.
Polk Hoping to Run $100 to $10,000 on WSOP Nevada
Early last week Polk began his $100 to $10,000 challenge on WSOP NV - a challenge reminiscent of Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson's $0-$10,000 Challenge from years ago.
As he told PokerUpdate, he wanted to prove that "even in today's tough online poker ecosystem, a hopeful micro stakes grinder can still run up a bankroll.
"The days of the 2003 poker boom may be behind us but that doesn't mean we have to give up and blame our failure on the system."
Polk is treating this challenge just like he is trying to run up his own money and planning on using smart bankroll management to run up his stack.
He's playing a combination of cash games, Sit & Go's and freerolls to start in order to start building his roll. As bankroll conditions permit he will then move up in stakes and take shots at bigger tournaments.
Polk Up 29% After Roller Coaster Five Days
To say that Polk has been on a roller coaster ride during the first five days of his challenge is an understatement.
On Day 1, Polk dropped $17 to finish at $83. Day 2 saw a small rebound but he still finished down $3. On Day 3, Polk broke into the black and finished with $119.
Things looked to be going well until Wednesday when Polk decided to grind a bonus on WSOP.com. This resulted in an all-night session and initially decimated his bankroll.
At one point, Polk was down under $50 and it appeared that he was destined to crash and burn. Polk continued playing well in to the morning on Thursday and managed to finish his session on Thursday at $85.
Polk took a couple of days off and returned on Sunday with $85 a dream He started off the session very strong, winning some big hands early and started climbing out of the hole.
After five hours, Polk not only pulled back to even but managed to win $29. He will return to action on Monday with $129 and looking to stack noobs and inspire others.
Follow Along on Twitch and YouTube
Polk will be continuing his challenge and plans to play five days a week, with most sessions starting at 5 p.m. PST.
