Three Sponsored Pros Leave UB - Is Cheating Scandal to Blame?
It looks as if UB.com pros are beginning to abandon ship. It has now been revealed that three pros are no longer affiliated with the site. Those pros are Matt âmattg1983â Graham, Billy âPatrolman35â Kopp, and Michael Binger.
According to Grahamâs agent, he is taking a break from the game and pursuing other interests. This is similar to what Peter Eastgate did this summer when he did not show up for the 2010 WSOP. No statement was given for either Kopp or Binger. It was interesting though to find out that UB only commented on Grahamâs departure. They stated, âMatt is an amazing poker player and we wish him every success.â
One has to wonder whether their departure is at least in some part tied to the recent revelations of yet another instance of cheating at Full Tilt Poker. It would not be surprising if this was the case, and I frankly couldnât blame them. At the same time, they really didnât lose anyone of significance. Koppâs biggest claim to fame was his deep run last year and subsequent meltdown to Darvin Moon near the final table. Graham has two WSOP bracelets, one of which all of about a dozen people witnessed. I know, I was at his first bracelet at 7:30 a.m. in the morning. Binger finished 3rd in the 2006 WSOP, and really hasnât done much since.
There are still 12 pros left on the UB roster, including long time pros Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke. How long that number stays at 12 remains to be seen.
