Poker Is not Gambling. Set it Free

In courts across the country, as well as in the US Senate, there are hard discussions around the issue of gambling legislation. Financial institutions are hard pressed to stop transactions to gambling operators.
And online poker players are deeply affected by all this. Shipping cash to the poker sites is getting harder by the day.
Meanwhile, weâre all asking ourselves, why is poker even a part of this?
When did poker get involved in the discussions on gambling legislation?
Thing is: Poker is not gambling. This fine game has nothing in common with gambling games like roulette or Keno or even blackjack.
Sure, poker is a game that is played for money, most of the time. But that doesnât mean itâs gambling. Not more so than chess or bridge or golf or tennis, other fine games that are often played for money, sometimes huge amounts.
Tennis is not gambling, and poker is not gambling. Please leave these games out of the discussions on gambling law.

I totally agree, Gloria, and I very much respect the work you're doing. Let's hope poker will be seen as a fine game one day. The sooner the better.

We are members of PPA and write to our congressman about this issue but get rebuffed each time. The response is, "The children, what about the children".
Well, what about parents monitoring the children on line? Perhaps US handling of on line poker would bring the revenue much needed and money usually helps perpetuate the cause. We need US involved like other countries are, and to stop treating Americans like fools and the very children our representatives are treating us like.
