Washington DC Repeals Online Gaming Law - I Told You So

I told you so.
On April 14th, 2011, I posted a blog regarding the Lottery Modernization Act of 2010 becoming law in Washington D.C.
Shari Gellar of Poker Player Newspaper pointed out that there were still several legal hurdles to clear, but she felt that games would be available in 2012.
My published response was "I'll believe it when I see it." Essentially, I had my doubt that games in D.C. would ever see the light of day.
Everyone said that it was the beginning of legalized online poker in the United States and it was a slam dunk for D.C.
February 6th, 2012 - D.C. Council repeals Lottery Modernization Act of 2010.
This bill slid though a little too easy, and later we found out why. Whether they really didn't have a clue about what they were doing or decided "oh crap, maybe we shouldn't go there yet" is debatable. However, I couldn't see it happening at the time.
With that said, depending on how Nevada progresses with legalized online poker and how other states work their way into the fray, I can see this still happening in D.C. However, I don't see games being available before the 2nd half of 2013 at best. Maybe 2014.
