United States Poker Championships Kick Off Next Week

One of the largests events outside of the WSOP and the WPT will kick off Monday at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, NJ. The United States Poker Championships kick off Monday with a series of 24 tournaments that culminate in a NL Holdem Championship that will be televised on Spike TV.
Up until last year, the USPC was televised by ESPN, but last year, they dropped the contract. Last years event was non-televised and attendance dropped by 66% for the Main Event. With a new TV contract in place, attendance is expected to be up.
Personally, I did not attend the USPC last year due to expecting attendance to drop. This year, I will head up there and will at least check out the cash games. During the USPC, the cash action is usually hopping and I am looking forward to making a solid profit.
The great thing about this event is the spread of tournaments, everything from Stud to Omaha, and of course Holdem is offered during the event. The field should be fairly solid with many local pros bellying up to the tables. Pros such as Chris Reslock, Allen Kessler, Nick Frangos, and even Cyndy Violette are regulars to look out for during this event.
I will be writing some articles and blogs from the event and hope that the news coming from there will be positive. Stay tuned as I bring you some of my USPC experiences.
