Season 7 High Stakes Poker Thoughts

Wake Up Barry 430x282

While I didn't think I would do so, I have watched every episode this season of High Stakes Poker on GSN.  Here are a few of my thoughts on the season so far.

1.  Is it me or does Doyle look like he isn't having any fun in this game?  He seems like he would rather be anywhere than on the show.  Maybe it's because he really isn't getting much in the way of hands or maybe he is just tired of playing.  Either event, he just doesn't look to be enjoying himself.

2.  Did Barry Greenstein pull a huge binger before joining this game?  For the last couple of episodes, he looks like is practically asleep at the table.  Granted, he hasn't had the best run so far, but it is still early.

3.  Was anyone really surprised with Ruffin running with his over $300k win?  A combination of good luck and David Peat allowed him to book this win.  However, when the cards started cooling off, I had no doubt he was going to run, and he did.

4.  I'm hoping that Klein can have a huge hand hold up in a huge pot at some point.  He has been ahead in a lot of situations and has gotten unlucky time and again.  The pros are intentionally trying to catch lucky, and at some point that is going to run out on them.

5.  I don't have much to say about Croak other than I expected him to be one of the first to bust out.

6. Finally, I STILL hate Norm Macdonald as host.  He isn't funny and listening to him is like listening to a 5 year old read to his class, and the 5 year old is probably funnier. Put Kara Scott in the booth. Hell, I'll take literally anyone right now over Macdonald. I wonder if Vinny Vinh's chair needs work.

I'm actually looking forward to Daniel Negreanu showing up and playing this season. While his voice annoys me after a while, at least he is lively, a good player, and less annoying than Norm.  (Yes, I'll even take Daniel in the booth.)
