2011 WSOP Rio
The 2011 World Series of Poker will kick off on Tuesday from Las Vegas and by the end of it 58 bracelets will be awarded across all poker disciplines. While I will naturally follow every event to some degree, there are some that I will keep a closer eye on over others. Below are the five events I most look forward to following at the 2011 WSOP: *#5 -  Event #29 - $2,500 10-Game Mix* *#4 - WSOP Rematches (Main Event Grudge Matches)* *#3 - Event #37 - $10,000 HORSE Championship* *#2 - Event #33 - Stud 8-or-Better World Championship* *#1 - Event #55 - $50,000 Poker Players Championship*.

Did Doyle Brunson Know DoylesRoom Indictment Was Coming?

So long and thanks for all the fish 430x285
It is a common and popular fact that if things look too good to be true, they usually are. For example, in the poker world, Phil Hellmuth always assumed that he was the most intelligent player in the game instead of the THIRD most intelligent. The second most intelligent player is of course Doyle Brunson who, oddly enough, seemed to know the impending online poker doomsday. He made many attempts to alert the poker populace of the danger, but most of his communications were mistaken as amusing poker anecdotes such as "You don't stop playing because you get old, you get old because you stop playing.

Daniel Negreanu Disappointed With Poker Community Over UB/AP

Men Nguyen 430x285
Daniel Negreanu posted a blog on Saturday where he essentially called out the poker community as a whole for not blackballing UltimateBet (now UB and Absolute Poker) over the whole cheating scandal. Now it appears the companies are going to cut and run and he says that the community as a whole is at fault. I'm not going to disagree with Daniel's take on this as it always seemed odd to me how the company stayed in business. And it wasn't like there were other issues outside of the cheating scandal.

The 20 Most Influential People in Poker - #10 - Viktor "Isildur1" Blom

Viktor Blom
Due to the April 15th indictments, I was forced to rethink the rest of the Top 20 Most Influential People in Poker list. In fact, the next player on the list fell about three spots as a result. Back in late 2009, a new player exploded on the scene. In a short amount of time, this player took a staggering $5 million from internet superstar Tom Dwan and instantly made himself a high-stakes legend.
