Winning the Main Event is No Big Deal
For the first time all season, I turned on the 2014 World
Series of Poker broadcasts on ESPN. I probably wouldn't have
watched long except for the fact that both Griffin Benger
and Dan Smith were at the featured table. I covered them
extensively during my time at Ivey Poker, so I watched them
a bit. Just before turning the channel, ESPN showed a video done
with Tony Roberto.

The New Face for "The Agony of Defeat"
Imagine you're on the bubble of the World Series of Poker
Main Event with a stack of about 220,000 and you pick up
pocket queens. You could sit back and try and cruise into the money, but
you're here to win dammit. Time to get some chips. An opponent raises and you call along.

The 20 Most Influential People in Poker - #15 - Phil Hellmuth
Coming in at #15 on the list of the "20 Most Influential
People in Poker" is the man most synonymous with the World
Series of Poker. He is also the one poker player that
everyone loves to hate. Yes, #15 on the list is none other than Phil
Hellmuth. [assets/Uploads/Blog/Hellmuth-15.

WSOP Main Event Day 8 Third Update - More Eliminations, Redraw
We are still averaging 4 eliminations per level as the first
2 levels saw 8 players go. Will the next two levels bring
the same?
*Fourth Level*
Players came back for the third level of the day with the
blinds at 100k/200k and antes of 30k. With 19 players left
we were waiting on only one more player to be eliminated
before a full-field redraw would happen. *Michiel Sijpkens out in 19th*
Sijpkens made a climb up the chip counts briefly before
finally plummeting down and then out of the tournament.

WSOP Main Event Day 8 Second Update - Almonds, More Eliminations, Movers
After seeing the elimination of 4 players in the first level
of play on Day 8, cards are back in the air for the 2nd
level with the blinds at 80k/160k and a 20k ante. *Almonds Anyone?*
Coming out of the break the floor introduced the almond
chips that are worth T250,000. The next color will be mint,
so I guess we will have to stick with the almond name. *More Eliminations*
Coming back from the break, in one of the first few hands at
the outer table Robert Pisano was eliminated in 23rd place.

WSOP Main Event Day 8 Update - Sponsorship Battle, Eliminations, & Double Ups
Day 8 is finally here. This will be the last day of play for the Main Event until
the final 9 come back in November to play out the 9-man SNG
for the ~9 million first place. *Battle of Sponsors*
As per WSOP rules and regulations when players are on a
feature table only 3 players can wear a logo for a single
site. What this means is on a table full of 9 players, only
3 can wear Full Tilt Patches and 3 can wear PokerStars
patches.

WSOP Main Event Day 7 Closing Update - Bryn's Gamble, Mizrachi's Roller Coaster, and Final 27
WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!! Day 7 is finally in the books. We were
looking at a very long night here at the Rio but amazingly
the remaining 27 players have bagged up their chips and left
the Amazon room (well except for the last few doing
interviews). *Bryn Kenney Gambles.
