Flashback Friday - Scotty Nguyen Wins 1998 WSOP Main Event
The 2015 World Series of Poker Main Event has just completed
Day 2 and the remaining players are beginning to seriously
contemplate whether they can become poker's next world
champion. In this edition of Flashback Friday, we look back to the
1998 WSOP Main Event and the heads-up match between Scotty
Nguyen and Kevin McBride. At the river, the board was 9h-9d-8c-8h-8s and Scotty Nguyen
moved all-in. While McBride contemplates what to do, Scotty says the
immortal words he's now known for:
:You call, it gonna be all over baby.

The Cards Don't Change - Except When They Do
My very first WSOP event ever was the $1,500 Limit Hold'em
Event at the 2006 World Series of Poker. I will always
remember this for several reasons, the biggest being that it
was the largest live Limit Hold'em tournament of all-time. Anyone that has played a limit tournament knows that it is
the ultimate grind. Being a newbie to the World Series,
there were times I would "check out" when I wasn't in a
hand.

Five November Nine Broadcast Observations
The first day of the 2014 WSOP November Nine is in the
books. A lot of poker was played over the course of 12 hours
and tomorrow promises to be another long night. I'm going to reserve commentary on the gameplay and instead
give five observations on the November Nine broadcast. Observation #1 - Rails subdued compared to past years
Observation #2 - Daniel vs.

Vanessa Selbst - From "Blowup" to Blowing Up the Poker World
Vanessa Selbst has just won her third career WSOP bracelet. It also makes her the only woman in history with three
open-field bracelets. It is hard to believe that Vanessa's first WSOP final table
was in 2006. Here is a video of her talking about that final
table and what ended up being her bustout hand.

Could an Earlier Launch of WSOP.com Have Impacted Main Event Numbers?
With online poker now legal in the state of Nevada and
Ultimate Poker becoming the first site to go online, it
seemed that another casino would get their site online in
short order. The seemingly obvious choice for this seemed to
be Caesars as many figured that WSOP. com would come online
just prior to or during 2013 World Series of Poker. The WSOP is now well into the Main Event and real money
gaming is still not being offered on the website.

When Did the Word Rape Become Cool in Poker?
When did it become cool for poker players to use overly
vulgar terms to describes things that they did to people or
have had done to them?
Here is my example for the evening. Apparently Corey Burbick is upset because he did not get a
refund for not showing up for the $3k. I can understand that he is pissed. I get that and from what
I read, I would be too.
