Speak Out Against SB40
In case you missed it, the Nevada Senate is considering a
measure that could potentially make staking poker player
illegal. The bill is SB40 and is intended to curtail money laundering
through sports betting proxy services. However, part of the bill could be used against poker
staking because the bill would make facilitating bets on
"future contingent events" illegal. Even casual fans of poker know that backing is big business
in poker.

Do We Want the Realism or the Fantasy of Rounders?
Why does every poker movie that comes out have to be
compared to Rounders?
I get the fact that Rounders is considered by many to be
"The Movie" when it comes to poker because of the realistic
portrayal. But this notion that every movie that fails to live up to
the "Rounders Standard" is bad eludes me. The problem with many of the movies that have been made in
recent years is that they try and cash in on poker's
popularity without showing how the game is really played. The two movies, in my opinion, that came the closest to
showing realistic poker portrayals were both mockumentaries.

Base Dealing in Casino Poker? Smells Like College
Just watched a video of an interview with Matt Salsberg
regarding an incident that went down at the Golden Nugget
Summer Series Main Event. According to Salsberg, one of the dealers started base
dealing and he claimed that he saw this happen in a couple
of spots. He called the floor and the dealer was
subsequently taken out of the event. Base dealing.

AC Golden Nugget Opens Poker Room - Do You Care?
Unless you were in Atlantic City or paying VERY close
attention to the AC poker scene, you probably didn't know
that the Golden Nugget opened a poker room on Christmas Eve. For those of you looking confused about there being a Golden
Nugget in AC, it's where the Trump Marina used to be. So, I went to the Golden Nugget's website to check out the
room, the games and the tournaments and.

Daniel Negreanu Disappointed With Poker Community Over UB/AP
Daniel Negreanu posted a blog on Saturday where he
essentially called out the poker community as a whole for
not blackballing UltimateBet (now UB and Absolute Poker)
over the whole cheating scandal. Now it appears the companies are going to cut and run and he
says that the community as a whole is at fault. I'm not going to disagree with Daniel's take on this as it
always seemed odd to me how the company stayed in business. And it wasn't like there were other issues outside of the
cheating scandal.

What is Your Motivation
Whatâs your motivation to play poker? At this time,
more so than any other, the question of motivation is put to
many players, whether it is by themselves or others. Do you
play for the challenge? Do you play for the thrill? Or is it
just the basic desire to accumulate wealth?
Personally, I am one of those that likes the challenge of
the game. I like some type of goal to achieve. When I go out
to play poker, I set various goals to achieve during my
play.
