WSOP Banner Snafu and Doyle's Still Dead
Oh, WSOP banner staff. How we love to make fun of you. In case you haven't heard, there was a small problem with Ryan Riess' WSOP Champion's banner. Can you spot it?
That's right folks. They spent months of planning, focusing on structures, unique events, guarantees and dog shows but failed to double check spelling on the most prominent reveal of the summer.
To their credit, at least they got his mortality status correct. If you're wondering what I am referring to there, let me explain.
Back when the WSOP started hanging the banners of past champions, the photos displayed was based on whether the champion was still living.
A living champion would have his photo in color. One no longer with us would be in black and white.
Here's Doyle Brunson's banner:
If you ever hear me quip "Doyle's still dead" during the WSOP, that's why.
In all seriousness, if a banner misspelling is one of the worst SNAFU'S made by the WSOP this summer, then that's a good track record. That doesn't mean we aren't going to have a little fun with them.
