Thang Who? That's Thang Luu To You Son.
The $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo Event just recently completed. Normally, this would be just a nice footnote in history. The winner of the bracelet in most cases would fade off into relative obscurity unless they were one of the big name pros like Annie Duke.
That is not the case this year. Thang Luu just completed what has to be one of the greatest 3 years runs in an event since Johnny Chan won his two Main Event titles and then finished 2nd to Hellmuth in 1988.
Thang Luu won last years $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo Event in what was the largest Omaha Hi-Lo field in history. This year, he won the same event again in what was again the largest field in history. By itself, this would be a fantastic accomplishment, but Luu also finished 2nd in this event in 2007. So over the last three years, he has finished 2nd and won back to back bracelets.
Only 9 times in WSOP has this feat occurred including Luuâs. After the event, Luu stated that he would play this event from now one. If Luu could somehow win the 2010 $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo event, that would surely have to be considered one of the greatest feats in WSOP history. If nothing else, it will actually give some people reason to pay attention to Omaha Hi-Lo next year.
