WSOP 2007 - Player of the Year

The person named player of the year for the World Series of Poker (WSOP) changes every year and is determined by a multitude of things. The WSOP started naming a player of the year in 2004.

Players only receive points for open bracelet events; players in 2007 did not receive points for the following events: 2, 17, 39, 41 or 55. Players must cash in order to receive points.

The 2007 WSOP player of the year was Tom "DonkeyBomber" Schneider. He totaled 255 'player of the year' points, won two bracelets and cashed three times, accumulating $416,829. That's right, Schneider won not only one, but two of the priceless and respected gold, WSOP bracelets. And, notably, he was the only player in 2007 to win more than one bracelet. He was champion of event five, a pot limit Omaha and seven card stud hi/lo game and of event 46, a game of seven-card stud hi/lo.

Schneider was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1959. He currently lives in Phoenix Arizona. Prior to becoming a professional poker player, Schneider was a CPA. He became a poker player in 2002. In addition to playing poker, Schneider also writes and talks about it as well. He wrote the book Oops! I Won Too Much Money, which gives tips about playing poker as well as some tips for business. He is also the creator and a columnist for Pokerati, which is a website that lends its readers information about tips, rules and, of course, stories and updates. Schneider also is co-host to a poker podcast called Beyond the Table.
