Just 30 Days Until the 2010 WSOP

Just 30 days until the World Series of Poker kicks off. The 2010 WSOP officially kicks off on May 27th with satellites and the first bracelet events are going to start on May 28th.

I will actually start my yearly trek out to Vegas this coming Monday. I will be out there for the duration of the Series covering the event for Poker Junkie as well as playing some at the WSOP and around Vegas. Stop by and say hi if you see how.

In the meantime, these are the top 5 events I am looking forward to at the WSOP:

$50,000 Player's Championship

The best of the best are going to turn out for this one and it should be interesting to see how they do in this 8 game format. I'll be the least interested in the final table since it is all NL, but I will probably attend (barring my making Day 2 in the $1,000 NL.)

$10,000 H.O.R.S.E.. World Championship

This is going to be a stacked field and I figure there will be about 120 to 150 players in this event. Most of the tables will be stacked and there should be a high level of play. $30,000 in starting chips will make this one long grind.

$10,000 Stud 8 World Championship

Naturally I am going to be interested in this one since Stud 8 is my favorite game. Again, this will be a stacked field and it will be interesting to see if a pro emerges with this bracelet or a Stud 8 specialist can take it down.

The Main Event

The crowds, the money, and the crazy stories of the event makes this one of the few NL events that I will enjoy covering the early rounds of. Expect around 7,000 to maybe as many as 8,000 for this event.

Any Event I am Playing

Yes, this is a shameless brag, but I will play in 3 or 4 events. As the cards lie right now, I plan to play Event #3 ($1,000 Donkament), Event #27 ($1,500 Stud 8), and Event #31 ($1,500 HORSE). I "may" play in Event #12, the $1,500 Limit Holdem, but I am not certain. I do not like the fact that it is a 5 p.m. event now and as such, I do not expect the field to be as soft as in prior years. That is kind of sad in a way because I have played well in this event in the past. It may still happen. We will see.

Anywho, those are the events I am looking forward to. There are others of interest, but these are the ones I will personally follow closest. Of course, Poker Junkie will be providing blogs, podcasts, and hopefully videos from the 2010 WSOP. We hope you will follow along all summer and add us to your bookmarks.
