Flashback Friday - Vanessa Selbst Wins Her Third WSOP Bracelet
Vanessa Selbst recently won the Global Poker Index Female Player of the Year award for the third time in a row.
In less than a decade, Selbst has skyrocketed to become the top female poker player of all-time.
This past summer, Selbst took down her third open field WSOP bracelet. It tied her for the most bracelets for a woman all-time and made her the only one to have three open-field wins.
In this week's Flashback Friday, we take you back to last year's $25,000 Mixed Max NL Hold'em Event at the 2014 World Series of Poker.
Selbst battled Jason Mo heads-up for the title and $871,148 in prize money. The video below starts with Vanessa holding nearly a 3:1 chip lead over Mo.
Mo looks down to 9d-7d on the button and decides to shove all-in. Selbst makes the call with Kh-Jc.
The flop couldn't have come any worse for Mo without pairing Selbst. The dealer fanned 10c-As-2c to give Selbst a Broadway draw to go with her over cards.
The turn Ad left Mo with six outs to double up. Finally, the river Js gave Selbst a pair and her third career WSOP bracelet.
This victory put Selbst in unique company and has set the stage for her to make history when she wins her fourth WSOP bracelet.
We say when because anyone that has seen her play will agree that it is just a matter of time before she wins again. She plays all the games well and is one of the toughest players in the world, regardless of gender.
And Selbst is really just getting started. At just 30 years of age, she still has 20 to 30 good years of dominance left in her.
That's assuming that she doesn't get bored with the game and leaves to practice law.
