Flashback Friday - Phil Hellmuth Can Dodge Bullets Baby
In this week's edition of Flashback Friday, we head back to the 2005 World Series of Poker Main Event.
The featured player this week is none other than 13-time bracelet winner and former Main Event champion Phil Hellmuth.
Hellmuth picks up Ac-Ks and raises to 1,500. His opponent picks up pocket aces and min-raises to 3,000. Phil calls to see the flop.
The flop falls Ac-4d-4c to give his opponent the nuts and Phil checks. His opponent checked behind and the turn falls the Qc.
Phil once again checks and his opponent bet 10,000. A pot size bet in this situation looked fishy to Phil and he instantly starts grilling his opponent.
After a bit of posturing, Phil makes a strong fold of A-K and shows the table. His opponent does the same, showing his aces.
Afterwards, Phil stands up and starts talking to his wife. "Honey! Honey! I was supposed to go broke on that hand honey."
Then we got one of the most classic poker lines off all time.
"Except they forgot one thing. I can dodge bullets baby."
Hard to believe it's already been a decade since that happened.
