The Moneymaker effect
The solution to this dilemma is well-known: try to qualify through a cheap online satellite.
Chris Moneymaker did this in 2003 and consequently went on to win the whole shebang. He left an unforgettable impression in the minds of all poker players.
Everybody can win! That's the message we read from Moneymaker's story. Of course, only one player can win, but at least the chance is there if you enter a satellite.
And it doesn't have to cost you much at all, that's the beauty of it. Players Only Poker runs daily satellites to 2008 WSOP as we speak. For four dollars you can buy in to a sit-and-go satellite or a multi table satellite, whichever you prefer.
Pick your entrance level
Or you can play the $7 rebuy satellites. The price is a bit higher, but then so are your chances.
Or you can buy in using five gold chips and play the gold chips rebuy satellite tournaments.
The last chance of qualifying to each week's final is the semi-final satellite starting at 2:30 PM (ET) every Sunday. The buy-in is $33.
Sundays at 5 PM (ET), the weekly WSOP final is played, giving away WSOP Main Event packages worth $12,000. If you haven't got a seat through any of the qualification routes listed above, of course you can always buy in directly, for $215.
If you win, not only will you be playing in the most classical poker competition of all alongside big names like Doyle Brunson and Phil Ivey, you'll also receive $2,000 of extra spending money to really make your visit in Vegas something extra to remember.2
