Event #8 at the 2010 WSOP was another $1,500 NL Holdem event.  2,341 players entered the event Wednesday looking to take their shot at the bracelet and $568,974 in prize money.

Among the notable players making the money in this event were Amnon Filippi in 174th, Victor Ramdin in 151st, Pat Pezzin in 112th, Jean-Robert Bellande in 97th, and Matt "AllInat420" in 53rd.

Going into the final day on Friday, no name was bigger than 11-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth.  Hellmuth started in the top 10 in chips but ultimately fell in 15th place, so his quest for a 12th bracelet had to be put on hold for now.  With Hellmuth's departure, this left nine relatively unknown players to take their shot at the bracelet.  Pascal LeFrancois led the field heading into the final table.  Here are the final table seating assignments:

Seat 1 - James Andersen
Seat 2 - Daniel Wjuniski
Seat 3 - David Aue
Seat 4 - Max Steinberg
Seat 5 - Josh Brikis
Seat 6 - Pascal LeFrancois
Seat 7 - Kurt Disessa
Seat 8 - Saar Wilf
Seat 9 - Kevin Howe

Pascal LeFrancois continued to widen his lead throughout the final table and eventually made heads-up play with Max Steinberg holding a 9.1 Million to 1.35 Million chip advantage.  The final hand saw both see a cheap flop of Jc-4c-Kh.  LeFrancois called a 140,000 chip bet from Steinberg.  The turn fell the 5h and again LeFrancois called a 360,000 bet.  The river fell the 10d and Steinberg moved all-in.  LeFrancois tanked for a bit and finally made the call.  Steinberg turned over 3-4 for a pair of fours and LeFrancois turned over J-6 for a better pair and the title.

Pascal LeFrancois wins Event #8 and took home both the gold bracelet and $568,974 in prize money.  Congratulations to a good start of the World Series of Poker 2010.
