Monday, Jul 5, 2010 WSOP 2010 Event 53 - Brendan Taylor Wins $1,500 Limit Holdem Shootout
Event #53 of the 2010 WSOP was the $1,500 Limit Holdem Shootout Event. 548 players turned out for the last shootout event of this World Series.
Day 1 saw several big names advance to play down to the final table. Among those players were Jonathan Little, Pat Pezzin, Marcel Luske, Terrence Chan, and Chau Giang.
Yueqi Zhu also advanced but was disqualified from the remainder of the event at the start of Day 2. At the end of his first round match, he worked out a deal with his heads-up opponent and that opponent openly chip dumped to Zhu. Chip dumping results in an automatic disqualification.
Round 2 resulted in the creation of our final table. Terrence Chan made his 2nd final table of this WSOP and was joined by pro Jonathan Little. All players started the final with 450,000 in chips.
Seat 1: Brendan Taylor
Seat 2: Jonathan Little
Seat 3: Brian Tate
Seat 4: Sijbrand Maal
Seat 5: Ben Yu
Seat 6: Terrence Chan
Seat 7: Michael Schneider
Seat 8: Joseph McGowan
Heads-up for the bracelet was between Brendan Taylor and Ben Yu. Taylor started heads-up play with a 2.46 Million to 1.14 Million chip lead over Yu.
This was a friendly battle as the two players just so happen to be roommates here in Vegas. Taylor ground down Yu quickly off of the strength of quad queens.
Yu was down to about 50,000 before doubling up twice to around 300,000. He was then all-in against Taylor holding A-9 and Taylor holding A-7. However, a seven on the flop put Taylor in the lead.
Running fours on the turn and river gave Taylor the hand and the bracelet.
Brendan Taylor is the $1,500 Limit Holdem Shootout Champion. He took home the bracelet and $184,950. Congratulations.
The final table payouts are below:
1 | Brendan Taylor | 184,950 |
