Saturday, Jun 26, 2010 WSOP 2010 Event 41 - Steve Jelinek Wins $1,500 PL Omaha Hi-Lo Event

Event #41 of the 2010 WSOP was the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Event.  Day 1 started with 847 players looking to take the bracelet and $245,871.

James Dempsey and Barry Greenstein were among the Day 1 chip leaders as 157 players returned to battle for the money in this World Series of Poker Omaha event.  81 players made the money in this event.  Among those players in the money were Chris Ferguson, Mike "The Mouth" Matusow, and David "Rabbi" Danheiser.

Day 3 started with 15 players left in the field, and two names were no bigger than Barry Greenstein and Phil Hellmuth.  Hellmuth is going for his 12th bracelet of his career and first bracelet in a non-Holdem event.  Barry Greenstein finished in 12th place while Hellmuth made the final table.  Mandy Thomas also became the fourth woman this year to make the final table of an open WSOP event.  Ryan Karp started the final table as the chip leader.  The final nine started the final table with the following chip counts:

Phil Hellmuth fell short of his 12th bracelet as he finished in 7th place.  Heads-up play started between John Gottlieb and Steve Jelinek.  Jelinek started heads up play as chip leader but Gottlieb battled back to pull within 25,000 of Jelinek.  The final hand of the event saw Gottlieb moved all-in pre-flop with Ad-Kh-9d-5c and Jelinek called with As-Ah-Qd-4h.  The board missed both players and Steve Jelinek is our champion.

Steve Jelinek is the Event #41 Champion.  He took home the bracelet and $245,871.  Congratulations.
