WSOP 2010 Event 40 winner Frank Kassela

Day 1 of this event saw the field thinned from 365 players down to just 147.  Those 147 players returned on Day 2 to take a shot at the money.  40 players made the money in this event.  Among those in the money were Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Greg Raymer, Matt Glantz, Daniel Negreanu, Joe Hachem, Dario Minieri, and Linda Johnson.

Day 3 of this event started with xx player looking to make the final table and ultimately take home the bracelet.  Steve Diano and Artie Cobb fell just shy of the final table.  The final table of this event included Jennifer Harman, Chris Bjorin, Frank Kassela and Vladimir Shchemelev.  This was the 4th final table of the WSOP for Shchemelev and the 2nd final table for both Jennifer Harman and Frank Kassela.  Kassela was also going for his 2nd bracelet of the WSOP.  The last table of nine players started with Melville Lewis as chip leader.  Here are the final nine players

Thomas Tiller was the final table bubble boy, leaving the remaining eight players as the official final table.  Eventually, Frank Kassela and Maxwell Troy would battle for the bracelet.  Troy started with a chip lead of 1.59 Million to just 1.15 Million of Kassela.

Kassela would drop down to around 700,000 before making a charge to take the chip lead.  At that point, he ground down Troy until he had just 430,000. All of those chips went in on third street with 3-2-6.  Kassela made the call with 4-3-2.  By fifth street, Troy held 3-2-6-8-7 for an eight low and Kassela held 4-3-2-5-9 for a nine.  Sixth street failed to improve either player.  The river brought a four for Troy to make a 7-6-4-3-2.  However, Kassela caught a seven on the river to make a 7-5-4-3-2 and Frank Kassela is the first multi-bracelet winner of the 2010 World Series of Poker players.
