WSOP 2010 Event 29 winner Matt Keikoan
Day 1 saw the field shrink from 171 player to 107 players. 18 of those players made the money in this event. Among those making the money were Patrick Walsh, Darren Woods, and Anh Nguyen.
Jameson Painter was the chip leader going into the final table of this event. This was Painter's third final table of this WSOP. Also at the final table were David Chiu, Brock Parker, and Michael Mizrachi. Parker won two bracelets in 2009 and this is the third final table of the WSOP for Michael Mizrachi. With a strong finish at the final table, Mizrachi could take over the lead in the WSOP Player of the Year race.
This is how the players were stacked at the beginning of the final table:
Seat 1: Daniel Idema (829,000)
Seat 2: Michael Mizrachi (243,000)
Seat 3: Brock Parker (619,000)
Seat 4: Matt Keikoan (505,000)
Seat 5: Zvi Groysman (500,000)
Seat 6: David Chiu (75,000)
Seat 7: Jameson Painter (1,209,000)
Seat 8: Kyle Ray (903,000)
Seat 9: Simon Morris (233,000)
Michael Mizrachi finished in 8th place in this event. Due to the strength of his final table run, he is now tied with James Dempsey for first in the WSOP Player of the Year race. Heads-up play for this event was between Daniel Idema andMatt Keikoan. Keikoan won a bracelet in 2008 in a $2,000 NL Event. Idema held a nearly 2 to 1 chip lead at the start of the final table, holding 3.74 Million to the 1.395 Million of Keikoan. Keikoan and Idema went back and forth for a while with both sharing the lead at some point.
Eventually, the limits were 150k and 300k and the combined stacks of both players equaled to about 17 big bets. Idema was crippled in a hand where he flopped top pair against two pair from Keikoan. At that point, Idema was down to 150,000, or one small bet. He was then all-in in the big blind with 2-4 against the A-7 of hearts for Keikoan. The flop fell Jh-Qh-Qc missed both. The turn fell the Kd and Idema was down to six outs. The river fell the Qd to give Keikoan his 2nd bracelet.
Matt Keikoan took down his 2nd career WSOP bracelet, joined the ranks of double World Series of Poker champions, and took home $425,969 in prize money. Congratulations.
