Thursday, Jun 17, 2010 WSOP 2010 Event 24 - Jeffrey Tebben Wins $1,000 NL Bracelet

Event #24 of the 2010 WSOP was the third $1,000 NL Holdem Event of this series.  3,289 players turned out with dreams of taking a bracelet and the top prize of $503,389.

WSOP 2010 Event 24 winner Jeffrey Tebben

As was the case with the other two $1,000 NL Events, this event had two starting days.  By the end of Day 1b, the field had been whittled down to 507 players.  342 players made the money of this event, and the bubble was broken by the dinner break of Day 2.  Players that made the money but fell short of the final table were Chris Bjorin, Eric Froelich, Matt Stout, Peter Smurfit, and Matt Brady.  At least they got their World Series of Poker buy in back, and then some. The field was reduced on Day 2 by 94 percent, leaving just 30 players to play to the final table on Day 3.

JD McNamara led the field going into final table play.  Here is how the final nine players started final table action:

Seat 1: Blake Kelso - 1,166,000
Seat 2: JD McNamara - 2,393,000
Seat 3: Thanh dat Tran - 2,311,000
Seat 4: Greg Pohler - 1,660,000
Seat 5: David Cai - 844,000
Seat 6: Michael Gross - 535,000
Seat 7: Denis Murphy - 789,999
Seat 8: Jeffrey Tebben - 466,000
Seat 9: John Tolbert - 925,000

The final two that played for the bracelet were Jeffrey Tebben and J.D. McNamara.  At the start of heads-up play, Tebben had more than a 2 to 1 chip lead holding 6.97 Million to McNamara's 2.9 Million.  The final hand of the event saw McNamara raise to 280,000 from the small blind and Tebben call from the big.  Ks-10s-8d was the flop and the flop was checked around.  Tebben bet 350,000 when the Kd hit the turn.  McNamara called and the river fell the 7c.  Tebben checked and McNamara bet 325,000.  Tebben then moved all-in and McNamara made the call with pocket jacks.  Tebben turned over Kc-2s for trip kings and Jeffrey Tebben was our champion.

Jeffrey Tebben is the winner of Event #24, $1,000 NL Holdem.  In addition to the WSOP bracelet, he received $503,389.
