Event #2 of the 2010 World Series of Poker is the $50,000 Poker Player's Championship.

This year, the Player's Championship replaced the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. Event and introduced 8-game as the format for the event.  Play started on Friday with 116 players looking to take their spot at the "True Poker World Champion."

Before the event began, a moving tribute was held for Chip Reese, the winner of the inaugural $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. Event in 2006.  Doyle Brunson spoke about Reese and a tribute video follow shortly afterwards.  Brunson gave the customary "Shuffle Up and Deal" call and play was underway.

Many of poker's big names started the event.  Chris Ferguson, Daniel Negreanu, Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Jennifer Harman, Tony G, Jeff Lisandro, Andy Bloch, Kirk Morrison, Michael Mizrachi, and Tom Dwan were among the players in the event.  Jennifer Harman was the lone female participant in the event.  16 players will make the money in this event, and first place will pay over $1.5 Million.

Erik Sagstrom finished Day 1 as chip leader with only a handful of players knocked out.  Day 2 saw the field shrunk by half.  Greg Raymer, Ted Lawson, Ralph Perry, Mike Matusow, Daniel Negreanu, Hoyt Corkins, Phil Hellmuth, and Jason Mercier were among the Day 2 casualties.  Kirk Morrison finished Day 2 as the chip leader with Andy Bloch right behind.

Day 3 started with 54 players looking to make the money of the event.  Players eliminate on Day 3 included Barry Greenstein, Phil Ivey, Justin Bonomo, Jeff Lisandro, Noah Boeken, and Doyle Brunson.  Michael Mizrachi entered Day 4 with the chip lead, followed by Vladamir Schmelev.  The top 10 in chips are below.  Play for Day 4 resumed Monday and will continue through the money bubble until the final table.  Stay tune to pokerjunkie.com as we bring you a recap of Day 4 action from the WSOP.
