Thursday, Jun 10, 2010 WSOP 2010 Event 13 - Steven Gee Tops Field of 3,042 for First Bracelet

Event #13 at the 2010 WSOP was the 2nd $1,000 NL Holdem event of the series.  3,042 players turned out hoping to get a chance to take home a WSOP bracelet and $472,479

WSOP 2010 Event 13 winner Steven Gee

324 players made the money in this massive field.  Some of those that finished in the money were Perry Friedman in 305th, Paul Wasicka in 286th, Liv Boeree in 189th, Gregg Merkow in 121st, Vitaly Lunkin in 88th, and Victor Ramdin in 73rd.

The final table was headlined by David Baker and Mats Gavatin.  Baker entered the final table as chip leader.  Here is how the final nine started in chips

David Baker                2,553,000
Matthew Vance          1,731,000
Steven Gee                  1,540,000
Nicholas Heather         993,000
Kyung Han                 613,000
Daniel Thomas             602,000
Jared Hamby               423,000
Mats Gavatin              393,000
Jeffrey Gross               281,000

David Baker would bust in 3rd place when he ran A-8 into the A-Q of Stephen Gee.  Gee played heads-up for the bracelet with Matt Vance.  At the start of heads-up play, Gee held a 7 Million to 2 Million chip lead over Vance. The final hand of the event saw Vance get his last 1.5 Million in pre-flop with Q-J against the A-K of Gee.  An ace on the flop left Vance needing running jacks, queens, or straight cards to give him a double up.  The turn 7s left Vance drawing dead, and Steven Gee was the champion.

Steven Gee outlasted a monster field of 3,042 players to take down the Event #13 bracelet and $472,479 in prize money. This is both his largest cash to date and his first major title.  Congratulations and good luck in coming world series of poker events 2010.
