PO vs. PT

Postby taxcollector on Tue Nov 17, 2009 10:44 am

Poker Office (PO) and Poker Tracker (PT) have been at it for years. PO has now reached version 5 and PT version 3, and even though each new version brings some added features, both of the leading poker database apps are aiming for the same functionality.

Which one is your favorite and why?

I've used both. I started out with PT, but once PO came out I made the switch because of the integrated HUD. Besides, PT had a slightly harder to use interface (but perhaps also more versatile).

Now since v3.0 PT has gotten a complete overhaul with integrated HUD and everything so it might be worth a second look. PO has some stability issues and is rather slow.

I heard good things about Omaha Manager (or whatever its name is) but I haven't tried it myself. Anyone?

I haven't tried that one, but it's part of Hold'em Manager. Anyone have some experience with that one? I would also be interested. :)

Hmm.. is that one on par with the other 2? I'd like some input on this one too...

I got Holdem manager for "free" by signing up at a new poker room. Compared to an earier version of PT (v2.. i think) I'd say HM is better. it's easy to use and has the invaluable HUD built in. But i don't know about the latest version of poker tracker.. Judging from the screenshots it looks about the same.

Holdem Manger is streets ahead of both the other products. More options, stats and add-ons to review your play as well as the best HUD going around.

I'm a beginner and for me HM was too complicated to get started with, I just couldn't get the postgres to work correctly on my PC.

PokerOffice is really easy to install and get going with as is comes with a database of its own. All I did was install and then everything started working when I opened up the tables. They have a new version coming out any day now that should make it compatible with Cereus and there is also an Omaha version.

I'd say you're one of many experiencing problems with postgres. That or you and I are two of the biggest idiots out there :)

Haven't been playing poker for a while now, but I've just started playing Omaha since I'm honestly a bit tired of NL. Very interesting to hear about the Omaha version of PokerOffice - I think my license is still valid. Is it possible to try it already?
