Annand "Victor" Ramdin

Victor Ramdin is one of the great stories in recent poker years. Born in Guyana and raised in the Bronx in New York, Ramdin did not take up poker until 2002, when he observed some people playing in a bar.

However, Ramdin was a quick study and only a year later found himself taking a shot at the World Series of Poker. When he cashed in the pot limit hold'em event, he knew he had what it takes. He confirmed this by coming in 29th in the main event, the year that Chris Moneymaker famously won.

Ramdin's next big win came at the 2003 "Showdown at the Sands" in Atlantic City. This was a $10,000 buy in event and Ramdin took 3rd place for over $200,000.

Even numerous cashes later Ramdin was relatively unknown. However, that all changed in April of 2006 when Ramdin won the championship event of the WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic for over a million dollars. Ramdin has not slowed down, and his current winnings total over 2.5 million.

Ramdin is well known as a philanthropist, and regularly uses his poker winnings to travel to Guyana with doctors to provide medical care for children, as well as to provide medical care for others in need.
