Monday, Nov 17, 2008 US Player Takes Down FTOPS X Main Event

Julian Verse won the headsup against Irish player sckilla. A total of 5,225 players entered the $500 Main Event of FTOPS X, putting the total prize pool well above the $2 million mark.

Julian Verse of the US won the biggest chunk of the prize money after beating Irish player Sckilla headsup.

The American came into the final duel as underdog, but managed to turn things around in a short time.

When Verse had fought his way to equal stacks, the decisive hand came along. The champ to be flopped a king high flush and check-called sckilla's bet. Verse checked again on the turn and then called sckilla's all-in. With just a bottom pair, the Irish was drawing dead.

After this hand, sckilla was very shortstacked and practically already eliminated. Despite doubling up twice he was never close to catch up.

Eventually his 6-2 lost to a Q-7 when Verse hit a 7 on the turn.
Verse receives $450,700 for first place, while sckilla has to settle for $273,000.
