4th Annual Five-Star WPC - Day 4

Josephy Doubling Up with 8-5o

In the forth day of the tournament, the passive game that we witnessed in the beginning was long gone. The game turned into a battlefield and a lot of players were eliminated when chips were pushed around.

4th Annual Five-Star World Poker Classic No-Limit Hold'em Championship Day 4 - Saturday April 22th, 2006

| Day 1A | Day 1B | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5 | Day 6 |

Some of the big names had to stand up and leave the tables. David Williams, Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Chip Jett, Phil Hellmuth, Amir Vahidi, were all casualties in today's war.

Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy showed that he is not only an amazing online poker player. He played great and ended the day with $1,255,000. A key pot for him was when he pushed all in after a $70,000 raise from Daniel Adelson. Adelson called the $366,000 raise and flipped over Kh-Qh. Josephy shows a premium hand; 8c-5s!!! The board came: Ad-7d-4c-8h-3d and "JohnnyBax" doubled up to $700,000.

James Van Alstyne ended day 4 as chip leader. When the game stopped for the day he had a huge stack of $4,235,000. Victor Ramdin who came into day 4 as the chip leader carried on playing well and ended the day with $2,685,000.

The field of 605 players are now narrowed down to 19. Tomorrow they will carry on fighting for the $3,760,165 first price.

Mason Raymond's Top 3

1. James van Alstyne - This guy is not very famous, but he is a truly solid poker player with a great number of good performances on his record. Now he has a solid chip lead with over $4 million in chips. I haven't seen much of him so far, but I have heard rumors about his incredible ability to read other players. I will certainly keep an extra eye on him from here on.

2. Poker babes - After day 4, Erica Schoenberg is in 7th place, and Vanessa Rousso is in 9th. Will we have a woman champions this year? I wouldn't be surprised if that happens, because these two really know how to play poker. Schoenberg made a really strong call with A-J to double up, and Rousso moved into the top 10 when her pocket 10´s held up against Patrik Antoniu's A-K.

3. Johnny Chan - The last WSOP champion to be eliminated from the tournament. The legendary Johnny Chan's run was over when Paul Wasicka flopped a set of 10's. I felt like throwing an orange at the guy.

Interview with chip leader James van Alstyne

You are in really great shape so far. How do you feel?
- I'm a bit tired, but I've been playing some great poker so far. I'm looking forward to playing again tomorrow.

You're the chip leader. How to you feel about that?
- I think it's great. Of course it's better than being short stack.

What is your goal at this stage?
- My goal is to win as it has been all along.
