Thursday, Jul 3, 2008 Time for the 2008 WSOP Main Event
The 2008 WSOP Main Event kicks off at noon on Thursday. Will anyone be able to catch John Phan in the race for the Poker Junkie of the Year title?
The most prestigious poker tournament in the world is about to begin, but as most of you already know, the winner won't be crowned until November, when the final table is played.
John Phan has a solid lead in the PJOY race thanks to his two bracelets. Eleven players, Barry Greenstein, David Benyamine, Erick Lindgren, Daniel Negreanu, David Singer, David Kitai, Eric Brooks, J.C. Tran, Michael Banducci, Michael DeMichele and Mike Matusow, have the chance to surpass Phan, but it would take a victory in the Main Event to do it. Many other players have the chance to tie with Phan at the top of the ranking.
Of course you will be able to follow the dramatic ending of the 2008 WSOP here at PokerJunkie. Stay tuned!
