PokerStars Signs New Online Wizard

Pokerstars signed yet another online poker wiz as they announced Bjorn "Bjoerni89" Schneider as its latest Team PokerStars Online member.

Schneider is a heads-up sit-n-go specialist and plays the $5k SNG"s almost exclusively. He'e also threatening PokerStars online pro Kevin "WizardofAhhs" Thurman's VIP Points record.

Thurman holds the record with 3,055,385 VPP's while Schneider has 2.7 million with a month left in the year.

Schneider started playing on PokerStars two years ago in $5 nine-handed SNGs and steadily worked his way up in stakes.

He had only started playing $100 SNG's at the start of 2011 but quickly made his way up the stakes, including a series of battles with Viktor "Isildur1" Blom.

When he's not tearing up the heads-up tables, he enjoys WoW, Starcraft, and is a history and philosophy student.

RaSZi's Mama Said Knock ElkY Out

On Tuesday, the most anticipated kickboxing match in poker between Lex "RaSZi" Velhuis and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier took place in Marbella, Spain.

The two were supposed to battle during the 2011 WSOP but a lack of training, finances and other factors forced a delay.

The match was scheduled for five three-minute rounds but the fight was over with by the second round.

Early on in Round 1, ElkY appeared to be throwing harder shots than Velhuis on a regular basis, but the majority of those shots were hitting the arms.

About the midway point of the round, Velhuis nailed ElkY with a solid hook to the head that seemed to keep ElkY reeling for the remainder of the round.

Velhuis then switched to a combination of kicks, knees to the body and a couple of strong head shots.  ElkY looked winded at the end of Round 1.

Round 2 started with Velhuis on the attack. About 40 seconds into the round, Velhuis landed a kick upside ElkY's head and he went down.

To his credit, he bounced right up and continued the fight.

"Continued the fight" is really too strong a term because a few seconds after the fight resumed ElkY dropped his guard and Velhuis dropped him with another kick upside his head.

ElkY did not get up and the fight was over.

Check the full fight video below (Warning: you might want to turn the sound down a bit before you start it):
