Monday, Dec 1, 2008 Rookie Wins $790k Bad Beat Jackpot at Ultimate Bet
Player "square root" lost with a royal flush and took home $250,000 of the Bad Beat Jackpot prize pool.
"Square root" opened his account only a few days ago and certainly got a good start on his Ultimate Bet career.
The UB rookie was playing Texas Hold'em at a jackpot table when he lost with a straight flush to, obviously, a higher straight flush, making him eligible for the Bad Beat Jackpot which was at $790,000 when the hand occurred.
The lucky unlucky player didn't, however, get all of that money as UB has a special formula for dividing the Bad Beat Jackpot money:
- 65% is divided among Bad Beat Jackpot players
- 50% of this goes to the loser of the bad beat hand
- 50% of this gets divided up among the other players
- 25% remains in the pot for the next jackpot
- 10% is dedicated towards administrative fees
In addition to this, players playing at a jackpot table in the same limit and game type as the bad beat hand, get a small piece of the jackpot.
