Thursday, Aug 27, 2009 Prahlad Friedman Wins WPT Legends of Poker

Prahlad Friedman defeated November Niner Kevin Schaffel heads-up to win the 2009 Legends of Poker and $1,009,000 in prize money.

Friedman was in third place when the final table of the World Poker Tour event started, but he soon took the lead, and after that he was unstoppable.

He busted Toto Leonidas in fourth place and Todd Terry in third and had a massive chip lead when the heads-up battle against Kevin Schaffel started.

Schaffel fought back and managed to double up, but Friedman kept the lead, and ended the match when he called Schaffel's pre-flop all-in with A-Q. WSOP 2009 Main Event finalist Schaffel had K-J, neither player hit the board and Friedman took the title with ace-high.

This was Prahlad Friedman's second major live tournament win. In the 2003 WSOP, he won a $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em event and took home $109,400.

In addition to this he has had a couple of deep runs in the WSOP Main Event, but the Legends of Poker Victory is by far his biggest win, at least when it comes to the cash - $1,009,000.

Kevin Schaffel didn't make it all the way this time, but he definitely proved that he will be a big threat when the Main Event final table starts in November.

Final-tables results from 2009 WPT Legends of Poker:

1.Prahlad Friedman$1,034,500
2.Kevin Schaffel$471,670
3.Todd Terry
$231,300
4.Toto Leonidas$144,600
5.Sam Stein$116,225
6.Mike Krescanko$89,220
