Summary of PokerStars NJ
Um ... you've heard of PokerStars, yeah?
Even if you've barely paid attention to poker - either professional or recreational - over the past decade or so odds are high (say, 100%) that you've come across the international poker behemoth that is PokerStars.
Watched any poker on TV? You've seen the PokerStars patch on dozen of poker pros or seen the PokerStars flag fly at its signature branded events. Watched any sports on TV? You've seen the ubiquitous PokerStars ads that proclaim "We Are Poker."
While its fortunes have been up and down when it comes to the United States specifically, there's no doubt the juggernaut PokerStars brand has played a gigantic role in shaping the poker industry as we know - both inside and outside the USA - over the past 15 years.
It started, of course, with the "perfect storm" of PokerStars qualifier Chris Moneymaker's win in the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event that set off the US poker boom. With the exception of the low point of Black Friday in 2011 and its still-reverberating consequences, that trajectory has continued relatively upward since.
PokerStars is undoubtedly the #1 global brand in poker worldwide (although partypoker and 888poker are back sniffing at its heels) and, thanks to proper online poker legislation being passed in 2012 and a $731m settlement with the US Department of Justice, also back as an online poker provider in New Jersey since 2016.
PokerStars' partner for New Jersey online poker (as required by state legislation) is Resorts Casino & Hotel. To play online poker in New Jersey you must be over the age of 21 and within state boundaries. You do not have to be a resident - just physically inside NJ borders.
"The" Poker Tournament Experience
When it comes to the full-on, multi-dimensional online poker "experience," it's hard to beat PokerStars. With the flagship Sunday Million, major WCOOP, TCOOP and SCOOP tournament series each year and literally hundreds of thousands of daily sit & gos, Spin & Gos, MTTs, freerolls, satellites and Zoom poker tourneys running, there's no better place to play poker at a high (or low) level.
From the microstakes to the nosebleeds PokerStars is where the best come to play so if you want to be a part of the still-booming poker community and some street cred, an account at PokerStars is de rigeur.
That's not saying you have to play all of your action there (in fact the level of skill at the tables across most stakes is so strong we actively encourage you to spread your poker bankroll around to many of the softer sites out there). But if you want a signature poker experience and a daily chance to feel like "a player" in the game, PokerStars is it. And its software is still at the top of the game bar none.
At PokerStars NJ you get to reap the rewards of all that poker cred only on a slightly smaller scale as it doesn't quite have the force of its worldwide player pool behind it. But with the NJCOOP, NJSCOOP, Zoom, Sunday Majors and PokerStars Live satellites for big local tourneys, it's the next best thing.
While partypoker & 888poker have made some very real inroads into PokerStars' longstanding dominance at the top of the industry, Stars is still king in a lot of poker players minds - and will likely stay that way for the near future.

PokerStars NJ cash game traffic averages about 100-150 players online at any one time (according to PokerScout [Year}]). That makes it the second-most visited site in New Jersey after 888poker/WSOP.
Player pools are now shared between all states where online poker is legalized (NJ, Nevada, Delaware) so expect that number to continue to rise. Traffic peak is between 6pm and 9pm EST.
Tournament wise, though, PokerStars NJ brings in the most traffic with its major tournament series (NJSCOOP and NJCOOP) and its big Sunday tournament lineup.
Zoom Poker and Spin & Gos are also huge draws. If you play Omaha or mixed games, PokerStars NJ is your best bet for action with the most mixed game traffic in the market.
Available No-Limit Hold’em stakes are usually from 1c/2c to around $25/$50 but you may have a hard time finding action at the higher stakes from time to time. As PokerStars was one of the first sites to really pioneer "microstakes" play (ie under $1), you can still expect to find most of the action there. Omaha action is a little more substantial with average stakes closer to 50c/$1 and above.
PokerStars NJ Tournaments
PokerStars made its bones as the premier tournament site in the world and that holds true to some extent at PokerStars NJ. While field sizes (especially during the week) aren't substantial enough to provide life-changing prize pools, the consistent lineup of daily MTTs does bring in some steady money-making opportunities.
Buy-ins are $5 to $500 but the prize pool guarantees are usually a bit higher than what you find elsewhere. Here’s what you can expect to play each week:
The Daily Bigs
The Big $5 (16:00 ET) – $5 buy-in, $500 guaranteed
The Big $30 (17:00 ET) – $30 buy-in, $1,000 guaranteed
The Big $50 (18:00 ET) – $50 buy-in, $2,000 guaranteed
The Big $10 (18:00 ET) – $10 buy-in, $1,000 guaranteed
The Big $20 (19:00 ET) – $20 buy-in, $1,500 guaranteed
More recurring daily tournaments include Hot Turbos, Nightly Stars, KO Fever and Moonlight Express. Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo and Stud players can look for The Change Ups with buy-ins from $5 to $100.
Sunday Warm-Up (16:00 ET) – $50 buy-in, $8,500 guaranteed
Sunday Storm (17:00 ET) – $10 buy-in, $4,500 guaranteed
Sunday Special (18:00 ET) – $200 buy-in, $45,000 guaranteed
Sunday High Roller (19:00 ET) – $500 buy-in, $15,000 guaranteed
Sunday Supersonic (22:00 ET) – $75 buy-in, $5,000 guaranteed
PokerStars NJ Zoom Poker
The most popular Stars innovation so far might be the much-copied Zoom Poker, PokerStars' variation of fast-fold poker. (Although technically a spin-off of Full Tilt Poker's groundbreaking Rush Poker, Zoom Poker is now the benchmark for fast-fold poker games. As PokerStars also bought and mothballed Rush Poker, it's now the best version of it, too.)
If you've ever played fast-fold poker you know it's the ultimate form of poker crack with a new hand and a new table delivered to you the second you fold. You can even hit auto-fold and have it rocket you away without even looking.
If you like playing poker on your phone, Zoom Poker is perfect for one-tabling. Zoom Poker is available in both cash game and tournament form.
PokerStars Spin & Gos
PokerStars's most important "other" game innovation over the past 5 years has undeniably been its Jackpot Spin & Gos. And no one in the PokerStars Marketing Department could have possibly imagined how successful they'd become.
Spin & Go’s are 3-player Hyper-Turbo tournaments with buy-ins from $1 to $25 on PokerStars NJ. Before the tournament starts, a prize multiplier is spun that randomly boosts the prize pool.
Each prize pool is multiplied form between 2x and 1,000x the buy-in. That means the highest possible prize pool can be $25,000 - an amazing value for a tournament with 500 starting chip chip stacks and 3-minute levels.
All Spin & Gos are winner-take-all except at the top 3 tiers. In those, 2nd and 3rd place also get 8-10% of the total prize payout. Spin & Gos are available in Omaha and for special prize packages like all-inclusive trips to the PCA, the EPT and local PokerStars Live New Jersey events.
PokerStars NJ Live Satellites
PokerStars spreads large numbers of low buy-in satellites to give players a chance to win all-inclusive packages to most of its big tournaments - both live and online. Steps satellites start at 1c and you can win your way up to a life-changing live buy-in in just 5 events.
Daily qualifiers for the big Sunday online tournaments also run all week at various buy in levels accessible to the entire player base.
Software & Graphics
Even if habitual poker players have been less satisfied with PokerStars rewards schemes and overall attitude toward high-volume players lately, there's still one thing that keeps them coming back for more:
- PokerStars' world-leading poker software
Even after dozens of years and an equal amount of competitors rising and falling over the past decade, PokerStars' software is still the gold standard for the poker industry.
Dreamed up, envisioned and executed by passionate poker players with world-class programming skills, it's no wonder it's the best poker software ever created.
From its immense customization options to its speedy, bug-free play to its well-thought out and practical site architecture, the PokerStars software has everything a poker player could want. If you like multi-tabling its tiling and cascading options will make your heart skip a beat they're so nice.
ZOOM Poker, Jackpot Spin & Gos, Showtime, PokerStars' newest innovation Unfold (where you can actually unfold your hand if you see a favorable flop) ... PokerStars is constantly dreaming up new and intriguing innovations to keep things fresh and appeal to poker players of all stripes.
PokerStars's Power Up, for example, combines elements of Hearthstone and M:tG with special cards you can use for special powers like revealing cards, changing the flop or taking away your opponents cards.
Whether you like straight up traditional poker, old school mixed games, newfangled variations or playing on your phone, PokerStars' software keeps up and provides everything you could want.
PokerStars Mobile App
As you might guess from that glowing review above, the PokerStars mobile app is equally exciting and again the standard for mobile poker play.
The PokerStars app is available for both Apple and Android and makes playing poker on your smartphone or tablet a pleasure.
Buttons, sliders and custom features are perfectly designed for the smaller format and make mistakes from mistakes a non-factor. What it might lack in customization it gains in simplicity and function and, simply put, isn't really missed anyway.
Some customization options are lost from the full desktop version but not enough most players would notice.
Zoom Poker and multi-tabling work seamlessly on the PokerStars app (for those so inclined) and unquestionably has changed the way most think about when and how they play online poker.
Players who create a new account via the mobile app are also of course eligible for the full bonus offers.
PokerStars NJ Customer Support
The primary means of customer support on PokerStars NJ is an online FAQ which, if not the most dynamic of options, does have solutions to the most common hiccups.
An email or the Contact Support forms are your next option if the FAQ can't sort you out and customer service reps are on hand 24 hours, 7 days a week to answer your queries.
You're likely to get a response within a couple of hours or so but on the odd occasion it may take longer. Responses are usually satisfactory although if you've broken the terms and conditions of the site (playing via VPN, cheating, etc) don't expect great lengths to get your account re-opened.
For urgent deposit and withdrawal requests you will be able to find a contact phone number in the PokerStars client.
PokerStars Deposit & Withdrawal Options
As PokerStars is full licensed and regulated in the state of New Jersey making deposit and withdrawals is as safe and secure as any online transactions. Once you have your account set up you can then fund it via the desktop or mobile client. Payment options available to players in New Jersey include
- Instant eChecks
- PokerStars Instant Online Banking
- Resorts Cage

Reload at the Table with Fast Deposit!
Enable the "Fast Deposit" feature in the cashier and you'll even be able to reload your account right from the table.
All player funds and account balances are held in segregated accounts and not used for any operational expenses meaning your money is available to you to withdraw at all times. You can also set weekly limits on how much you can deposit.
Withdrawals need to be approved but are also quick and easy and usually take only a day or two to process. To withdraw just navigate to the ‘Cashier’ and select ‘Withdraw’. You will then be prompted to enter a withdrawal amount. Enter and click ‘Submit’.
