Saturday, Oct 11, 2008 PokerStars Latin America Poker Tour is Back for a Second Season

The PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour Season 1 proved to be a great success. PokerStars recently announced that there will be a LAPT Season 2. The new tour will stop at twice as many locations and start in San Jose, Costa Rica November 5.

The event in San Jose will have a buy-in of $3,500 + $200 and a guaranteed price pool of $1 Million. The buy-ins for the rest of the LAPT events will be the same apart from the Championship event that will have a $5,000 + $200 buy-in.

The first event will run November 3 to 5 at the Ramada Plaza, Herradura Conference Centre in San Jose. Last year this event attracted 398 players and was won by the internet qualifier Valdemar Kwaysser who brought home $274,103 in first price. Notable players in the tourney where the Team PokerStars Pros Daniel Negreanu and Isabelle Mercier along with the Costa Rica's most famous poker player, Humberto Brenes. The organizers hope to see even more top pros in this year's event, along with online qualifiers from PokerStars.

In the first season of LAPT over thousand players competed in the three events.

- PokerStars LAPT Season One was defined by ground-breaking debut success. Season Two will be defined by growth and expansion as we fully spread the tour across Latin America," said LAPT President Glenn Cademartori.

This season an additional three events has been added, so the tour will make a total of six stops in six different countries: Costa Rica, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay, Argentina, and Brazil.

PokerStars runs daily satellites to the LAPT San Jose. All prize packages include a main event buy-in, 4 night's hotel accommodation and pocket money.
