Monday, Dec 29, 2008 PokerStars creates poker history

PokerStars hosted the largest poker tournament in history this weekend. A total of 35,000 players participated in the $10 tournament that was sold out days in advance. The historic no-limit holdem tournament took place last Sunday and was the finale of PokerStars' World Record Weekend promotion.

The traffic at PokerStars was huge this weekend and peaked at 250,540 players seated at 33,582 tables. The flood of players made the PokerStars servers work at maximum capacity and some games were reported to lag slightly. But nothing major.

$150,000 was added to the price pool of the record braking $10 tourney. Despite the huge turnout the players reached the money in less than three hours. The last person standing, outlasting 34,999 players, was stan34powa.

These players finished in the top:

  1. stan34powa - $30,000
  2. meiky777 - $20,000
  3. rumred14 - $15,000
  4. Goldman007 - $10,000
  5. Nekochan48 - $7,500
  6. gustave44 - $5,000
  7. n0ideahh - $3,500
