Hollywood Poker is best known for the long list of Hollywood celebrities who play at the site, and they make a really big thing out of it, offering regular celebrity tournaments with bounty prizes for knocking out your favorite celebrities. It’s really nice.
Hollywood Poker is also recognized for other spectacular promotions and bonuses such as big money freerolls, qualifiers to big tournaments and deposit bonuses.
The poker room is part of the Ongame Network, a constantly growing poker community with new skins and new hordes of players joining on a regular basis. At this writing their player volume is the fifth biggest in the world.
‘Hollywood Poker players are eligible for smashing $1,500 sign-up bonus at 600% deposit match. To receive the maximum $1,500 bonus, players must deposit $250. There is a 90-day requirement, and the bonus is released in increments of $250.
You need to earn 18,000 Player Points to release the full bonus amount. Player Points are earned at a rate of 12 points per raked dollar.
Hollywood also applies a muscular referral plan for real-money players. Each “successful” friend who you pass on can bring as much as $200 to your account! That’s up to a total of $2,000 if you have 10 friends – or if can make new ones. Successful means they must deposit cash and then gather a certain amount of poker points by playing raked hands.
When playing real-money ring-games and tournaments, you collect poker points that you can use to enter certain tournaments, purchase merchandise or earn regular cash rewards.
Poker Traffic
As a part of Ongame Network, the world’s fifth biggest poker network at this writing, Hollywood Poker has very high ring game traffic. It should be easy to find games around the clock at all holdem stakes. It’s also easy to find good Omaha games most of the time.
During peak hours there can be over 8,500 real money ring-game players (peak hours in January 2007).
Peak hours at Hollywood Poker usually coincide with European evenings (around noon PT). Notice that you can use this to find players when your usual games are quiet, if you’re normally playing on a site with American peak hours.
Software & Graphics
Hollywood Poker is running on the Ongame software - an in-house poker software system that is among the very best on the market. The graphical interface is nice and clean, the poker action is easy to follow, and game controls are mostly implemented in a logical and rational way.
The Ongame software is known for its great functionality. The tables can be customized to your personal preferences. You can choose if you want the avatars showing or not, if you want big 4-color card symbols etc. One of the best functions is the availability to create your own games, where you can choose poker variation, stakes and number of players. You can also decide if the game should be private or public. This is a great way to start a game of your liking, whether it is Omaha or holdem, short handed or full table, high stakes or micro stakes.
The statistic functions and player notes with color codes are very useful. Ongame uses keyboard shortcuts, which enable you to play using the keyboard instead of the mouse. And they recently added a table mini-view option, letting you see plenty of tables at once without too much overlapping.
Game Variety
The game variety at Hollywood Poker is decent, a bit better than the minimum offering of some other sites. Along with Holdem and Omaha, Hollywood Poker also offers Seven Card Stud and Five Card Draw. Nothing extreme.
As long as you’re content with holdem or Omaha you’ll have an easy time finding games at all levels as well as around the clock, more or less.
Multi table tournaments are pretty well spread out on the available game variations, which is a great asset. Sit-and-gos on the other hand, are remarkably focused around the Omaha so popular Cadillac of poker - Texas Holdem.
