Full Review of DoylesRoom

Summary of DoylesRoom

Doyle’s Room was launched back in 2004 and is endorsed by the poker legend Doyle Brunson himself. Doyle plays regularly in the poker room along with his son Todd Brunson and friends like “the Mad Genius of Poker” Mike Caro. The poker room used to be part of the Tribeca Poker Network, but recently moved to the Microgaming Poker Network.

When the UIGEA was passed the site took a heavy blow when it was forced to ban U.S. players. But since the pokerroom moved to the Microgaming network the traffic has increased rapidly. And since October 18, 2007, Doyle’s Room is once again accepting U.S. players.

The games are pretty loose, as on all Microgaming poker sites. So if you want the chance to play with a living poker legend in a growing poker room with good promotions Doyle’s Room might be exactly what you are looking for.

Promotions and Bonus Information

Doyle’s Room has several great offers for both new and existing players. Get a 110 % sign up bonus up to $550 on your first deposit. You will also find great guarantee tournaments every week, satellites to major events, a massive refer-a-friend bonus and much more.

Loyal Doyle’s Room players receive Loyalty Action Points. The points are based on your rake and can be earned both in cash games and tournaments. After reaching certain limits your Action Points can be turned into cash.

If you like tournaments Doyle’s Room runs several great guarantee tournaments each week. If you like deep stack tournaments you will love the Extreme Stack tournament with $50,000 guaranteed every Saturday. The largest guarantee tournament is the $175 Guaranteed that runs every Sunday.

Doyle’s Room has a massive refer-a-friend bonus of up to $250! You can get up to $250 for each friend you refer and your friend will get a 110 % sign-up bonus and a copy of Doyle’s famous book “Super System”.

Your bonus is released as soon as you have met the bonus requirements. The $550 bonus with the 110 % bonus match is paid out in a rate of $1 per 90 Action Points you make. For each raked hand you play you will receive between 0.5 and 30 Action Points depending on the rake. You also get 30 Action Points for each $1 you pay in tournament fees.

Poker Traffic

Microgaming is a mid sized poker network with pretty good traffic around the clock. It can’t compete with the largest networks but the traffic numbers are not bad at all and you will be able to find games at most stakes.

The number of real money cash game players at Doyle’s Room and the Microgaming network is about 2,000 at peak hours (July 2008). The traffic is mainly concentrated to the low and mid stakes Texas holdem tables. And you can often find good high stakes action. There has also been an influx of players to the Omaha tables lately as the game seems to be increasing in popularity.

Doyle’s Room hosts several popular tournaments such as the weekly guarantee tournaments and the traffic numbers at the multi-table tournaments are pretty high in general.

Software & Graphics

Doyle’s Room is running on the Microgaming software and shares the same player base and poker platform. This is a great improvement from the sub par Tribeca software.

The Microgaming software is stable and fast with great playability. The poker lobby is very easy to navigate and you will be able to get to the right table within section. In the lobby you also find the vital table statistics such as average pot size, viewed flop percentage and hand played per hour.

During play you can use the in-table statistics that will tell you how often a certain player sees the flop, his win percentage and other useful stuff. And you can also use the same statistics to analyze your own game. If you encounter problems during play a live chat manager is instantly available. Overall the Microgaming software is nothing out of the ordinary, but it’s reliable and functional and gets the job done.

Game Variety

The game variety at Doyle’s Room is above average. The games offered on the Microgaming Network are Texas holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud, Five-Card Stud and Five-Card Draw. All games are available as no-limit, pot-limit and fixed-limit and you can play at full tables, shorthanded tables and head-up tables. The stakes ranges from $0.02-$0.05 to $200-$400 at the no-limit tables.

Most of the traffic is concentrated to the low and mid-stakes holdem tables. But the Omaha action is also decent and Microgaming has been known to host some real high-stakes action.

The tournaments at Doyle’s Room have buyins ranging from $1 to several hundred dollars. The most popular tournaments are the weekly guarantee events. Doyle’s Room also offers a vide variety of well populated freerolls, with several guarantee freerolls running daily.

More About

Doyle Brunson is a living legend. Few, if any, other player has had such an impact on the game of poker as he has. His books ‘Super System’ and ‘Super System 2’ changed the way no-limit poker is played and popularized Brunson’s hyper aggressive style of play.
