Cake Poker launched in 2006 and quickly achieved cult-favorite status among a devoted following. While the software has always been a bit average, Cake Poker does offer some incredible promotions, a lot of awful players and a great support staff that seems to truly care about the quality of service. Also, it’s completely open to U.S. players.

Full Review of Cake Poker
Summary of Cake Poker
Cake Poker is a sweet surprise to anyone looking beyond the more established online poker rooms.
After downloading the software you may wonder what the big deal is with simply O.K. graphics and a solid, if somewhat unoriginal lobby, but stay for a few hours and we’re willing to bet you’ll make Cake Poker one of your favorite online poker rooms.
The level of play on Cake Poker is pretty horrendous and if we had a nickel for every bizarre play we’ve seen on the site we’d have a lot of nickels.
Cake Poker goes beyond offering super soft tables and has some of the most aggressive promotions we’ve seen.
It’s obvious the site is still trying to grow its player base and they’re home to great sign-up offers and a fantastic rewards program with gold cards, gold stacks and gold chips.
The support staff is great and sometimes it almost feels like a small family runs the site with friendly replies and legitimately helpful answers.
The traffic has fluctuated over the last few years but for the most part it has remained relatively low compared to industry standards.
Despite these issues we still give this site an enthusiastic two thumbs up because of its superior promotions, great support and truly unskilled assortment of players.

Poker Traffic
Cake Poker has slipped out of the top 10 in terms of traffic over the last couple years. Players looking for a huge network with numerous games running 24/7 will most likely want to check elsewhere.
Those who stick around, however, will find sub-par players, great promotions and a real chance to make some great money.
On the plus side No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha games are running at the smaller stakes nearly all day and you’ll have plenty of options during peak hours.
Traffic has started to once again climb in recent years and it may be a short period of time before Cake Poker is once again looking to crack the top 10 or better.
Software & Graphics
The Cake Poker software is good, not great.
The recent 2.0 upgrade has helped considerably but you’ll still find a standard lobby and functional but somewhat boring table designs.
All the industry standards are there with multi-table support, hand histories, chat functions, lobby filters and more.
Cake Poker offers No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha and, in theory, Seven-Card Stud. We find it’s rare the Seven-Card Stud games are running, however.
Thankfully a recent upgrade added a fully re-sizable lobby, customizable tables, a tournament calendar and advanced player stats.
Game Variety
Cake Poker offers No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha and Seven-Card Stud. Be warned the Seven-Card Stud games are rarely running, however.
The real traffic is all generated in Hold’em and Omaha with the split version of Omaha also getting a dedicated group of players.
More About
The Cake Poker Network has had a tumultuous history with numerous online poker rooms joining the network, and then leaving, only to join again.
Over the last year the network seems to have stabilized and, thanks to several stable partners, appears to be once again gaining traction.
Players have always loved the main site, however, and it’s easy to find poker fans raving about the underrated room.
