Let's look at Poker Room's ten-year history - eons in terms of online poker.

1999: Poker players Claes Lidell and Oskar Hörnell started building and launched their own poker site. At the time, Poker Room was only available in play-money mode. Nonetheless, one of the first poker platforms had been created and online poker history was written.

2001: Poker Room launched real-money games. Since the site already had build up a trust in the poker community, the real-money action took of rather quickly. This year, Poker Room made a profit of a whopping 9 million SEK (approximately $1,5 million.)

2003: This was a golden year for online poker: Chris Moneymaker won WSOP Main Event after qualifying through a $10 satellite and everyone seemed to start playing poker. In the end of 2003, Poker Room had 1.4 million registered players.

2004: Poker Room became part of Poker Network (Ongame) together with eight other poker sites - all based on Poker Room's software. Two offices opened, Stockholm, Sweden and San Jose, Costa Rica. The network now had 3.5 million registered users.

2005: Poker Room was awarded "IT Company of the Year" by Swedish business magazine Veckans Affärer. The network had 230 employees and 6 million players. The trade magazine Inside Edge appointed Poker Room Site of the Year.

2006: Ongame was sold to betandwin.com for $570 million, and was once again awarded Poker Site of the Year.

2007: bwin became the largest publically listed online betting company.
