What Have You Done For Me Lately? PokerStars Cuts Pros
It looks like PokerStars has decided to trim down their roster of sponsored pros. Havad Khan, Gavin Griffin, and Peter Eastgate are no longer with the site.
First, the cutting of Peter Eastgate is not surprising. Â He's no longer playing poker and as such should not be sponsored.
Gavin Griffin and Havad Khan fall under the category of: What have you done for me lately? Neither has done anything of true significance for a while.Â
Full Tilt seems to be the only place that keeps their pros regardless of what they have done in the poker world. I can see Gavin getting picked up with another site as I think we will see more from him in the future. I am not so certain about Havad Khan.Â
Yes, he did ok after his deep WSOP run a few years back, but he has never taken that next step and really hasn't been making any rumblings about doing so. He also now lacks any real personality to make him marketable.Â
Griffin isn't exactly a compelling figure either, but he has at least won the Triple Crown. What has Khan done?
I could see Griffin getting signed by Full Tilt. Khan will probably have to shop himself around a while.Â
Maybe Doyle's Room will sign him. Hey, they signed Allen Kessler. Oh wait, Kessler has actually won something in the last couple of years and has played for a bracelet recently.Â
Maybe Khan can talk to Tom Schneider's agent. I'm sure some BULLDOZER! company may sponsor him.
