Vanessa Selbst Gives Mohegan Sun Field the Shak - Wins Title For Second Straight Year
Last year, Vanessa Selbst took down the NAPT Main Event at Mohegan Sun for $750,000. This kicked off a strong 2010 that resulted in $2.6 million in winnings and Selbst climbing to fourth on the Women's All-Time Money list.
Enter the 2011 NAPT Mohegan Sun final table and a sign by a fan conveyed the mood:
"Every year, the same damned thing."
That's right, Selbst made the 2011 NAPT Main Event final table and took it down for the 2nd straight year. She survived a strong challenge from Dan Shak heads-up to take down the title.
This time, she walked away with "only $450,000." This score moves her up to third on the Women's All-Time Money List as she leapfrogs Annette Obrestad.
Next on the list: Annie Duke.
Selbst is well on her way to catching Kathy Liebert for the Women's money list lead. At the rate she is going, she should do so about ... August. But seriously, this is an incredible run for a fantastic poker player. She is proving time and again that this game is not just a man's game.
Don't feel so bad guys, at least you ... oh wait ... she can pick up women better than guys can too. And women live longer too. Wow, it sucks to be a guy now eh?
