Phil Hellmuth Officially Leaves UB
Holy crap, that didn't take long. The following came in from UB.com:
"The poker pro who is famous for his grand WSOP entrances is making one final exit. Today we are announcing that UB.com and Phil Hellmuth have mutually parted ways. It has been great working with Phil over the last decade and we know weâre with the rest of the poker world when we say that we look forward to Philâs next move on the world poker circuit."
So the biggest name that UB had on its site is now officially gone. This coming just hours after Annie Duke jumped ship. Gee folks, dontcha think this is a bit telling?
Granted, Phil Hellmuth's departure was about as shocking as the cancellation of Stargate Universe, but this does not bode well for UB. They are claiming that they have some great additions to their roster in the upcoming weeks, but how much credibility can they have really when their two biggest supporters have jumped ship?
It is hard to say where Phil will land, but a lot of people have been hinting atsome type of sponsorship or partnership with the WSOP or maybe the WSOP Academy. Personally, I think that he would be a great fit for the Academy and would bring a lot more press.
Regardless of where Phil lands, we at Pokerjunkie.com wish him the best of luck and urge him to not suck out on Sasquatch.
By the way, for those lost on the Stargate Universe crack, SGU was the latest show in the Stargate franchise and it royally sucked from the first season. Thankfully they canceled the show.  While I am somewhat sad that there will no longer be new Stargate episodes being created, I got over BattleStar Gallatica a long time ago, which is what the producers of SGU seemed to try and make the show.
