Justin Shronk Dead at 27
The poker world has lost one of its most recognized and beloved voices. Joe Seebok announced the passing of Justin Shronk at the age of 27.
Shronk had been suffering from ongoing health problems and according to the blog, he died of natural causes. He had recently been in the hospital with pancreatitis. He had been released and seemed to be doing well before dying suddenly.
Shronk had become famous for his work with Card Player, Poker News, and Bluff Magazine. His passion for his work made him a favorite not only among those that he worked with, but also many of the professional players that he covered and considered friends.
Shronk was perhaps most famous for his work on PokerRoad.com. Shronk held many hats with the site including poker news editor, radio show producers, and general jack of all trades. As has been stated by many at PokerRoad, the site lost a huge member of their family today.
A moment of silence was held by players during Day 2 of the WPT Championship at Bellagio for Shronk's passing. Tributes are being held for him at all the major poker forum sites, including PokerRoad.com
I personally did not know Justin Shronk. I knew of him and followed some of his work, but never got the chance to meet him. His passion for his work was unmatched by few in the business. He was the gold standard in poker reporting and will be missed.
