For a reason that I can’t remember, I receive Mike Sexton’s poker tips in my inbox.

I admire Mike Sexton. He’s a fine poker commentator and obviously a top-notch poker player himself. But I must say this:
Mike Sexton’s poker tips are not burning hot.
In his last communication, Mike talks of putting opponents on a hand. I mean, come on. That’s just so 2003, Mike!
Now it’s 2010, and you’re supposed to put opponents on a range. Everybody knows that.
Put them on a range of hands and see how your hand fares against the range. That’s the new religion, Mike, didn’t you know?!
Or, wait, are hand ranges “just so 2009” now?
Anyone?!

You got to remember that most of his poker tips are likely fans of his from the WPT TV show. Your average “poker tv fan” may actually benefit from the tips until they actually try to learn to play.
